My favorite pet: the cat

I like cat so much because they are adorable and fun. I have about six cats in my home, each has it's specific color and characteristics. Cat's scientific name is Felis catus. They
spent sleeping about 12-16 hours daily. Cats live about 15 years on average. Cats are cuddly and wonderful. They rely on body language to communicate by flicking their tails in a relaxed manner or abruptly from side to side to express those feelings. They may purr to show affection in which they show extremes of any emotion, and may do so when hurt. Kneading is an activity common to all domestic cats whereby, when in a state of ease, they alternately push out and pull in their front paws, often alternating between right and left limbs. A cat's posture communicates its emotions. Their postures can be friendly or aggressive depending upon
the situation. It's the ability of cats to land on their feet with little or no injury. They can do this more easily than other animals due to their flexible spine and floating collar bone. Cats are carnivores and can survive without vegetation. They hunt small prey primarily birds and rodents.

21 Century Skills

21 century skills refer to a broad set of knowledge, skills, work habits, and character traits that are believed to be critically important to success in today's world. These skills can be
applied in all academic subject areas, and in all educational, career, and civic settings throughout a student's life. They include: critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning, questioning, research skills, creativity, imagination, planning, public speaking and presenting, cooperation, information and communication technology literacy, computer programming, global awareness, environmental understanding, and health and wellness literacy. They must be used in classrooms in different ways. So technology must be integrated in the schools (computers, pads..), collaborative work also should be integrated. Also the teacher
must give students chance for creative thinking (for example ask them to brainstorm). The teacher should use proper feedback to support and encourage students, use the suitable assessment that is valid and fair to all types of students, and should play the role of being a facilitator. These skills have many positive effects on students, they enhance the ability of individuals to communicate clearly using oral and written languages, allow students to collaborate effectively and enable  them to share and use information to solve complex problems, enable students to acquire the creative thinking, flexible problem solving and innovation skills that they will need to be successful in work and life, and enhance the ability of individuals to work effectively with diverse teams and to be open minded to varying ideas and values.

Cell Biology

As you know all living things are made up of cells. Cells are the smallest living unit, and they are microscopic. The four characteristics of a cell are: surrounding membrane, protoplasm (cell contents in thick fluid), organelles, and control center with DNA. There are 2 types of cells: prokaryotic and eukaryotic. Prokaryotic cells are cell type for bacteria and archaea. They have no membrane bound nucleus, and the organelles are not bound by membranes. Eukaryotic cells are cell type of fungi, plant, and animals. They possess many organelles
and have nucleus bound by membrane. A cell is surrounded by plasma membrane which is a double layer of phospholipids and proteins. Few molecules move freely through this membrane such as: water and gases. Others need carrier proteins in order to pass such as ions and glucose. The nucleus is the control center of cell, it has double membrane and contains chromosomes. Other organelles include: endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, Mitochondria, and ribosomes. Each has a specific function that ensures the survival of a cell.

The importance of studying TD for teachers

At the beginning, I was so frustrated to register the TD year. I didn't believe that I finish my biology courses, I graduated, and then Im free from going to the university on a daily basis and from setting hours and days studying for a single exam. However, I didn't get a job immediately and because Im convinced that my future career is a teacher , so I decided to register TD in order to gain some information that will enhance my job later especially that I don't have any experience in teaching at schools. Now Im about to finish the TD year, it was a very meaningful year that let me gain a lot of information about teaching and be a skillful teacher. So I learned different types of methods to explain different lessons according to the content. Also, I learned about the curriculums at schools and how they should be analyzed and used. I knew how to manage my class and how to interact with different types of students. In addition, I studied about the assessment techniques and how they should be valid for all students and how should I plan and craft an assessment. And finally, I learned about the importance of technology in classrooms and how to incorporate it in my classes. So as teachers we should all have such information and more to be skilled and perform our job easily.

Human Body: Astounding Facts!

The human body is the most complex mechanism we have encountered in the universe. There is no end to the discoveries we make about it. Here are some fascinating facts about this natural wonder:

  5. It is estimated that there are 60,000 miles of blood vessels in the human body.
  6. you are more likely to have bad dream in a cold room.
  7. every minute, 300 million cells in your body die, and your body produces 300 billion new ones each day.
  8. It only takes 17 muscles to smile.

Tips for a successful marriage

Every person aspires to has a good partner who understands and loves him, and hopes to
build a successful lifelong family. Now a days the percentage of divorce is increasing everyday due to many reasons, and this should be resolved because it will affect the society negatively. So what are some tips to have a successful and lifelong marriage?
  1. Create your own rituals: it could be as simple as making your husband a coffee in the morning. Whatever you choose, a couples ritual is a way to connect with your partner in the madness of a busy life. The comfort of little rituals are trust giving, safety maintaining, and love enhancing.
  2. Learn to communicate: so being able to talk openly with your partner is a sign of a strong marriage.
  3. Respect and affection: you need to treat each other preciously. And make sure that your partner understands your message and work out what you both need then try to accommodate each other.
  4. Avoid treason and jealousy.
  5. You don't have to like every quality your partner has:  because you won't be able to change them.
  6. Decide as a couple how you are going to compromise: try to find a middle ground that fits both of you.
  7.  Stick to the present: don't bring up old conflicts or things that went wrong in the past and that will reopen old wounds.
  8. Don't interrupt: let your partner finish a thought, listen respectfully to know what the other is feeling instead of just shooting them down.
  9. Create a world that the two of you share: you should have things to do together and you enjoy them such as having friends to visit or liking each other's jobs.
  10. Be flexible with gender roles.
  11.  Make couple time especially when there are children.
  12. Be an optimist: think positively of your marriage.

Science day 2015

During this course (Educ561) we have learned how to design a scientific poster and how posters can be used in teaching. Posters can facilitate oral practice as they encourage students to talk and participate. Posters also help students to express a certain topic in their own ways. In addition, they help to accommodate a variety of learning styles by dealing with all students in the class. The last spring I have created  a poster for the modern topics in biology course which was about the bovine (cow) milk proteins involved in the development of the immune and digestive systems of the newborn. LPL, RNASE, and Plasminogen proteins were involved in the development of the digestive system. Whereas, LPO, Immujnoglobulins, and serum Amyloid A proteins were involved in the development of the immune system. So as conclusion from this study, the biological function of milk is to provide protection for the newborn and supply all the necessary nutrients for maintenance and growth such as energy, amino acids, minerals and vitamins. This is also applied to human beings. It was a very nice experience where I have been judged by two instructors. I didn't won, but I learned many things such as don't give up when you are trying to reach a certain goal, you may have many other chances.
